Ahakista, Graham Norton's Place
Far be it from me to drop names, but the bauld Mr Graham Norton is a very involved and visible member of the Ahakista community. He heads an annual August Bank Holiday charity quiz in the town which is almost immediately sold out, despite the 4 am queue for tickets.
Ahakista itself is a lovely little burg on the shores of Dunmanus Bay on the Sheep’s Head peninsula. It has a feeling of solidity, of an integrated community that can easily absorb the celebrity bestowed on it for one weekend every year. It’s basically the Montreux of West Cork.
